Skardu: Exploring

Getting to know our guides

Skardu is the regional capital of Baltistan, lying at the edge of a broad floodplain that is the confluence of the Shyok, Indus and Basha Rivers.

From our hotel, we walk a little way into town with Muhammed and Nahid. The intention is to do a day hike up to the Fort, but when we started up Rachel realized she should have the trek poles, so we will wait to do the hike tomorrow.

Instead, we explore some of Skardu and return to the hotel to organize our gear for the Trek. We leave some of our gear not needed for the trek behind.
