K2 Trek Day 14 Return from Paiyu to Korofong

Storms are moving into the mountains. Our original destination today is the same camp at Jola along the river on our first day trekking up to Concordia.

We have had great weather up until now. Storms are moving into the mountains.

Rachel is wearing Nahid's boots for the final two days trekking.

The trail follows the hillsides along the river. Lots of ups and downs.

These sections are very loose and can be sketchy in rainy weather.

At one point we can walk on the jeep road again. The footing becomes easier.

More mules carrying fuel for the military. We guess they want to be stocked up before winter hits.

A rest area with hot tea. Another group's porters are taking a break. Depending on the trip groups take porters, mules or both. Each mule replaces about 4 porters so groups can get large.

We were only planning to go as far Jola today, but a passing jeep gives us a ride, along with 4 porters and their loads from another group. We decide to keep going as far as they go which is to the Korofong bridge. Jola is a very exposed campsite near the river.

We catch up with the group with the Swiss and Hong Kong guys. They have decided to continue on to Askoli....making this a very long day for them.

Hussain is the first to arrive as usual. He had stopped at the original plan to camp, so he arrives after us now.

Our team arrives and we watch the process for the first time of how they set up camp.

Our camp at Korofong. It starts raining and windy shortly after we get the tents up.

Haider, the cook. After the guides the most important guy on the trek. He prepared a variety of great food.
