Ossana

As you may know, I am writing these journals a full day after the fact. The internet speed and reliability inevitably plays a role in being able to stay up to date, as does simple tiredness. It’s annoying to get behind and once that happens, it’s impossible to catch up. This is all to say that each and every day is so full of new and amazing experiences, I cannot imagine glossing over any of it.

The apartment at Edolo was very nice but as is often the case with lockbox accommodation, it feels somewhat hollow to not interact with your host. This works in some cases, but we so enjoy the social side of our stays that I try to avoid the lockbox stays.

Edolo is a small Italian village so the best we could foresee for breakfast would be a coffee and a pastry, quite a step down in the breakfast fixings we are accustomed to on this trip. We decided to be proactive last night and ask for fruit and yogurt for breakfast, and our host obliged! How kind of her. She delivered kiwis, bananas, strawberries and grapes and some yogurt to the door at 8:30am. We had access to coffee making equipment, so we were well taken care of.

The route I had made for today followed the bikeway between Edolo and Ossana. It’s written up as a beautiful bikeway, easy to just follow the river, enjoying nature along the way. Hmmm. Who writes these up and have they ever ridden the route? I can say with confidence, no. Was it unpleasant? No, quite the contrary, but it did involve a lot of pushing our bikes up 15+ percent grades for a very long way. We could hear the traffic and the river roaring below us in the narrow valley, so it seemed to be worthwhile ar first. And, we were in no hurry as it was to be a fairly short day.

We came upon this horsey family. The foals were tuckered out, lying down on the job.

Well, it’s one of those nights. internet is abysmal here in Taio, not so far from Trento. I’m stealing some 5G from my phone, so I can at least say we had a fantastic ride over the Passo Tonale, finishing up in Ossana (Cusiano). This is another Giro col and it’s a gorgeous climb, about 10km and not too strenuous.

I’ll leave you with the video and hope to fill in the details when it’s feasible.

Patty BarronMissed having the full descriptions, & fleshed out details, however David’s video did it great justice, & as always, gave a realistic feel for the ride of the day.

Suzanne GibsonGreat video! Actually, they are all so good. I had to laugh at the two on light road bikes zipping past.
