The Dixie Mainline!

Horseshoe Beach to Suwanee

This is Dennis, Janice and Keith. They come up on th eweekends to work on maintainance at Elsea's Fish Camp. Elsie was busy due to some sad news in the family so Keith took care of checking us in and making sure we had what we needed.

I flagged down Steve to see if he knew if we could ride the short ride to Suwannee. If we have to go and around it's 55 miles. The short ride is 18 but if the sand is deep it would take forever and if there is water over the road...Steve said go ask at the Marina

We asked these fellows at the Marina and they said they thought the Mainline road would be okay and it was just graded.

We headed over to where my map said to get onto the Mainline and it was deep sand. Step walked up and said it turned more solid so we pushed the bikes over the sand and made it a mile up the road and then hit water so we turned around! We headed up the main road when we got to it and stopped at a store about 8 miles out. We talked to a family coming out of the store and they said the Dixie Mainline would be okay to ride along. They told us how to get there.

So off we went, once again thinking we would try it as it would be a much shorter ride still than going all the way round!

We checked into Bill's Fish Camp and then rode over to Salt Creek Cafe for lunch. I noticed this air boat floating by so I took a picture.

After a quick trip to the store we headed back to camp and we are very cozy in a little cottage with a screened in porch. Wait, here, I'll take a picture!
