Wildcamp 5km south of Konani
Another late start - it was ten o'clock by the time we left Patacamaya. On the southern outskirts of town the queue for fuel streched over three kilometers. Something is bound to break if this situation isn't rectified soon.
It was a slow climb for the first twenty kilometers. Soon afterwards we entered the town of Sicasica to find the F1 blocked by a protest with stones blocking the way and a tyre burning on the island between the two flows of traffic. Leigh was not sure if we should carry on but I rode up to the small crowd where the tyre was burning and asked if we could pass through. After a bit of good natured joking about it not being possible because of the stones in the road they waved us through.
From here on it was a fast ride to Konani getting there just before two o'clock. It's a depressing looking town but we needed some lunch and possibly a place to stay. The lunch of grilled chicken was good but the accomodation options were dreadful. We stocked up on sone food and headed off to a wildcamping location we found on iOverlander.

Our camp is about half a kilometer from the F1 in the middle of fields of oats and quinoa. Some farm workers have passed by giving us friendly greetings so we don't feel we are intruding.
It's great to be back in the tent again. The late afternoon weather has been perfect but the temperature is dropping quickly now that the sun has set and is predicted to hit minus four.
Tomorrow we head for Oruro.
Today's ride: 57 km (35 miles)
Total: 872 km (542 miles)
