Londres
Sunday the 29th of June 2025
The cold weather has determined our progress. Today we barely moved, just thirteen kilometers, to the next village down Ruta Cuarenta into digs that are a bit warmer and better equipped than what we had in Belén. Today and tomorrow are forecast to be very cold with midday temperatures only reaching about 4 degrees and snow a possibility but things should get a bit better as from the day thereafter.

Londres is a sparsely populated village straddling the Rio Hondo. Amazingly as it has been in existence since 1558, apparently named Londres de la Nueva Inglaterra in honor of the fact that Philip II, King of Spain at time of its founding, was married to Mary Tudor (Mary I of England.

It was still below zero by noon today. I wandered around the village for a while. It was quiet and peaceful. The houses are spread far apart from one another with fruit trees, vines and open land between them. Eventually I was cold enough to be forced back inside where Leigh had sensibly sheltered for the whole day.
We head towards Salicas tomorrow. The forecast is for a subzero start but the mercury should just about make double figures by early afternoon.
Today's ride: 13 km (8 miles)
Total: 1,979 km (1,229 miles)
