El Carril
Another day in with no photos. Leigh took some pictures of the futbol stadium we passed as we rode out of Salta (reason for doing so explained below) and I grabbed a shot of a raptor for ID purposes (a Roadside Hawk, Rupornis magnirostris). Other than that there was little to grab our attention.
So why did Leigh photograph the stadium ? This is the venue at which the Springboks (the name by which the South African national rugby team known) lost to Los Pumas (the Argentinian national team) for the first time in Argentina (August 2016). I don't think this matters much to anyone else on Cycle Blaze but it was a match neither of us will forget for a long time.
From the stadium southwards until we reached Ruta 68 we had a pleasant and relaxed ride. Once on the 68 it was wall to wall traffic all the way to El Carril. If it wasn't for the traffic we would have carried on until Coronel Moldes, about thirty kilometers further, but I wasn't prepared to have any more of the traffic.
We have a simple apartment for the night. Hot shower and clean sheets with a reasonably OK kitchen. Nothing about which to complain.
We head towards La Viña tomorrow. I suspect the traffic will eventually get to me but it can't be avoided. If it is not too bad we may push on a bit further.
Today's ride: 43 km (27 miles)
Total: 1,533 km (952 miles)
