Day 31 - Back on the Transamerica

I was on the Transamerica route until day 23, about a week back. Since then:

  • Rode about 90 miles north and a bit west from Chester, Illinois to stay with friends outside St. Louis
  • Rode 225 miles west on the Katy trial to the western terminus at Clinton, MO
  • Rode about 90 miles south to intersect the Transamerica in Golden City, MO
Number 52 - Stockton, MO. I am only counting this as one even though it is a Family Dollar and Dollar Tree

Came across 8 or 10 of these signs so far. Luckily there has not been a lot of rain so I biked on

Way back on Day 17 in Sebree, KY I met the first biker in 2024 who was also on the Transamerica. Greg grew up in southwest Missouri and told me his uncle Stanley at 81 years old still cut hair in Golden City, MO barber shop. Below is a picture of this shop but unfortunately it was closed when I was there. You can see Stanley’s name in the bottom left of the window

Larry is riding the Transamerica and Dave is driving support. This means Larry can use a very lightweight carbon fiber bike since all his gear is in Dave’s car
