To Phoenixville

East to the sea

Our tour was quickly drawing to its close.  Today's was the final full day's ride - more or less a straight shot eastward to Phoenixville on our way to the Atlantic.  As on the day before, we zigzagged quite a bit seeking out the quietest roads as well as a few more covered bridges.  If anything, today's ride was even more enjoyable than yesterday's bridge tour - quiet and fairly uneventful, but with a steady stream of attractive farmlands, bridges, farming with animals, and so on.  Taken together, these two days in eastern Pennsylvania made a sort of minitour within the larger ride.  As we come to the end of this journey, it feels like we've strung together three completely different itineraries - the parkways, the Shenandoah and Potomac valleys, and the Pennsylvania Dutch farmlands.  Pretty great trip all in all, and a lot to pack into a few weeks.
