Day 7: Newport is bourgeois

(And that’s wheyah we ahh)

After yesterdays long day we slept mighty fine, which led to a lake awakening - we didn’t get out until just before nine. We ate the hotel breakfast so we could be thrifty, then donned jackets heading out since temp was high-fifty.

Relaxing and reading my travelog is the original “Snoop-dog”

Kath liked the houses in Hummock point - they were all fancy in this high- end neighborhood joint. My thought was “Honey, they are MONEY!”

Jutting into the Mt Hope bay was a private dock; we couldn’t enter because the entry had a lock

When trying to get conditions on the road up ahead don’t ask a non-cyclist driver you might be misled. They’ll tell you that riding a bike is too scary and the road up ahead is really really hairy. They’ll tell you that hill is nothing and you should begin it, or the next town over “is only 10 minute” But then you find the shoulder is no feet wide and it turns out to be a killer hill ride. So drivers who don’t cycle I’ve learned not to ask, because I’ve found they’re often not up to the task.

I was able to shoot this table

We had some good views though our day was short, and made it here on our way to Newport

We sat here and satisfied our hunger itch; me with a salad and Kath with a sandwich

Having a sit for a bit and unwrapping our food; my salad was void and our energy renewed

When passing cows, what should I do? Stay silent or call out “moooo”?

With the sun setting and light starting to morph, we ended the day on Bowen’s Wharf
