Some mountain climbing

Olvera to Montecorto

Before leaving Olvera station site, walked up the steep hill for a kilometre to the actual town to get supplies but an unknown local public holiday meant supermarket was closed but bakery was open. Did see some floats driven by tractors, not sure what was going on.  Didn't notice if it was a public holiday anywhere else as shops were open normally else where.

Nothing was open at the railway complex so left by redoing 8kms of the rail trail but descending this time and I could tell it would be more relaxing ride in the other direction, something to consider next time.

Spent today exploring some mountains south of Olvera, managed to find an okay climbing route via Zahara lake to my second Warmshowers host Raul in the small town of Montecorto.

Raul gave me excellent advice on things to see in the area and even drove me to a semi high point to allow me to do a no gear ride up 200 meters for 16kms and then and down 500meters for another 16kms back to Montecorto via the town of Grazalema, which is located on the edge of a mountain. Tried a chocolate bakery item shaped in a heart but it was to much chocolate for me. Perfect sunny day, with a great host.
