Floating along the Sienne

We do not start the actual cycling part of this trip until the 20th August.  In the meantime we will be floating along the rivers of France without a pedal turning.  I will however put a post on every couple of days for our own records.  Cyclist you can just skip them and come back when the wheels start to turn again

With the magic of Uber we were whisked  from our very nice hotel to our boat somewhere along the river - actually it was at a port just downstream of the Eiffel Tower.  The Avalon Tapestry 2 is a very comfortable ship and our stateroom is all we could wish for. We are indulged. The food and wine is delicious, we have lots of interesting excursions planned and the company is good.  We cast off took a quick run up the river to see the Eiffel Tower then  we turned down the river and headed towards the sea

A good sleep in or of the most comfortable beds I have slept  in and we woke in Vernon.  The plan for the morning was to visit Monet’s Gardens at Giverny. Our guide Patricia was really excellent and she made Monets garden and life live.  For me it refreshed the memories of Art History lectures at University. There are too many photos but they give a good impression of the experience

Steve Miller/GrampiesMonet's Garden is one of our favourite spots. It is easy to access from Paris by bike and we have found a few lovely Gites to stay at while there.
