Arles visit

Photos telling the story of a day in Arles exploring the sights and arts, historic and contemporary.

The amphitheater is a well preserved Roman relic that is still used for bullfights and concerts.

St. Trophime church with 11thC Romanesque sculptures decorating the entrance. No sign of the cycling priest.

Arles is also known for photographic arts.

We wandered into this church and were surprised to find a stunning show of painted nude photos

The artist expanding on his inspirations and troubles with prudish officials.

For gender parity we found an exhibit of nude males, but they were relegated to a much smaller and less impressive space.

On the Van Gogh trail. Placards are placed approximately where he would have set up his easel.
