A Riesling rest day

Mr Mick to Jim Barry

I rode all of 1 kilometre to a car wash to clean all the caked on mud off my bike. It was tough. Into the wind and a steep uphill gradient of at least 1.5% made for a tough day in the saddle.

That pain was eased with 2 capuccino’s and an apple and walnut slice in one of Clare’s many cafes dotting the Main Street.

Cherie has driven up from Adelaide to join us for 2 days and we’re off to lunch at Mr Mick’s winery.

Wines available from Killcare Cellars. Just mention my name!

Lunch was tapas style and delicious, washed down with a Pinot Gris and a Tempranillo. By the time we walked back to our house via a gelato bar we were almost late for a tasting at Tim Knapstein before heading off to Jim Barry winery for more hydration.

Tomorrow we’re back on the road heading into more remote territory. I can’t wait!

Steve bursting clear of the pack near the summit of Alp D’Huez with a rather sheepish crowd looking on.
