To Mondsee

The ride to Mondsee was surprisingly easy, beautiful and quiet.  Once again we found ourselves on wonderful bike routes that were virtually traffic-free.  This seems much more characteristic of Austria than Germany.

By midday we were in lake country, biking along the western shore of the Irrsee - a small, very tranquil lake.  As we continued south the terrain became gradually more rugged.  By the time we reached Mondsee, we found that the far shore was rimmed by lovely exposed limestone cliffs.

We ended the day sitting by the lakeside promenade, enjoying ducks dabbling in the lake and the beautiful views to the south.

Today's ride: 65 km (40 miles)
Total: 937 km (582 miles)
