Day 14- 27miles Port Orford, OR to Gold Beach, OR

Actual day of ride Aug. 25 thLight day today. We had a great day yesterday however we were recovering a little from dehydration from the heat. Also- we either had to do 60+ mi or the 27 we did. Tomorrow will also be light for the same reason. We are only one day away from California. I can not believe it.Today's ride was very nice no big hills and mostly right on the coast so we had nice ocean breeze most of the day. When were leaving the hotel we saw that Catherine, Dave and Scott were just about to head out and we figured we would see them on the road. Yep....just a few miles down the road the guys came rolling by but just a while later we passed them? Cargo issues...I had a slight case of that myself had to adjust my front bags because of a shimmy at @24mph on the down. The day before I was flying at about 35mph without so much as a wiggle. Everyday is different we find with our packing. We have the same stuff that has been with us since the start and yet somedays it feels like twice as much. These LHT bikes love the load you pack it they just haul it. We came pretty much straight down 101 Hwy until just before Gold Beach where they had us take the Old Coast Road. It was more like a bike trail can't imagine it being the actual road but it was. We arrived here at our Motel 6 which is very nice! Did some laundry enjoyed the sun and looked up and see Catherine checking in. We enjoyed another dinner with her and we will most likely be riding together for awhile since we are going the same direction and pace. We studied camp sights in CA over dinner and it is not going to be like Oregon. We think we might just end up sharing some sites to save on cost as there are not as many hiker/biker sites and they are more expensive. We ate at a local fish place again but I have to say that the Oregon coast folks do NOT seem to know how to grill fish...everything is fried. I did have a good Strawberry Rhubarb pie for desert it was good but nothing like my Mom's. Now that is good pie!Leaving Port Orford...view from hotel
