Day 38 Merriman to Valentine

Today it was the usual routine of oatmeal, boiled egg, bagel, and coffee while we broke camp. It was a little chilly (14F below average), so we had a couple of layers on until we started peddling. So, it was much of the same today with open grasslands of the Sandhills as far as the eye could see. Prairie wildflowers broke the green carpet.  We took a few breaks along the way and stopped for lunch in Kilgore (we are now on central time). Our destination for the day was Valentine. Arriving in the afternoon, we stopped by Bolo Brewing for a couple of beers and then headed to the Bunkhouse Restaurant for dinner. Tonight we are camping in the Valentine City Park on the banks of Minnechaduza Creek, a tributary of the Niobrara River.
