Day 19 - still at Quincy, IL

As you know, today is a day off. I snoozed to 7:25am. It is rained overnight, and more was on the way this morning. I started my motel breakfast at 7:40am, while the motorcyclists who stayed here last night were trying to figure out what to do about the rain and their day's plans. It did rain fairly hard while I was eating breakfast. A few of the motorcyclists came back in for coffee. A couple of them said they'd be taking off after this session of rain ended. In the end that turned out to be a good plan because it didn't rain (at least here) the rest of the day.

My day's plan was to get as many reports ready for posting as I could. I think I'll be less stressed about postings if I get one posted each day, even if it's for several days ago. I'm going to try that. I did get Day 14 posted today.

At 5:00pm, I took off on a 12-minute walk to Chicks On The River, a place I had marked on my GPS before I left on this trip. This place is big on "Chicken Lips". I had to look up what those are: chicken breast strips. I sat at the bar since I didn't want to take up a whole table if the place got busy. And it was pretty busy by the time I was done. I spent a lot of time looking at their menu and decided on "Lip Spud", a chicken strip on top of a loaded baked potato. It was so good and just the right amount of food. But I did have room for dessert, which was Strawberry Cheesecake. Also very good.

I left at 6:17pm to check out Chat Adams Bicentennial Park across the street. One thing's for sure, I don't need to take any more pictures of Quincy bridges. I had a longer walk back, since I was walking away from the motel as I went through the park. But I saw some interesting buildings along the way, and was back in my room before 7:00pm. There's been rain in areas to the north and south this evening. Maybe we'll have some overnight. Currently they're predicting a 60% chance of storms after 2:00pm tomorrow.

I've got some more journal work that I'll get to shortly. I sure am enjoying all the amenities of this nicer motel. But it's back to camping tomorrow, if I stick to my plan.

Jeff

I wouldn't think they'd need sandbags this far from the river

Nancy GrahamI think I may have hear the term “chicken lips” but never recall knowing what they are! So now I do. You may be getting tired of taking photos of the bridges, but I am liking seeing them all ;’-).
