Big Day - The Explorers’ Ride - CycleBlaze

Big Day

Yackandandah to Tatong

Today was a fairly solid 10 hours of scenic cycling. 125 km with 1100+ metres of climbs.

We continued our journey south in the meandering hoof prints of Hume & Hovell from Yackandandah to the hamlet of Tatong via rail trails, backroads and lanes.

It’s been a fun, sociable day as well. We met old friends of Martin on their farm 10km from Beechworth, and his 90 year old in Beechworth.

The day began with a frosty, sub-zero climb from Yackandandah, and ended with a moon lit entry to Tatong after sunset.

The rail trail from Yackandandah was a idyllic cycle touring

Graham SmithTo Joel KrewazThanks Joel. It’s one of the tours where there are easy route choices and challenging routes choices. We’ve tended to do the harder ones but tomorrow I’m taking an easy option on the Great Victoria Rail Trail.

Overall, it’s a MTB ride. It’d be slow going on a normal touring bike.
