Post-tour chores

In addition to all the usual things one has to do after leaving one's home vacant for almost two months, we're motivated to take care of our gear so we won't have any nasty surprises the next time we use it. As the jet lag slowly wears off and we return to our domestic routine, we've managed to tick the following off our to-do list:

  • Wash dirt off the bikes
  • Degrease our drive trains and replace the chains
  • Reseat the rear brake pads on Sunyoung's bike
  • Adjust brake pads on both bikes
  • Pump the tires to the recommended pressure
  • Wash and dry the sleeping bags
  • Launder dirty clothes
  • Dry the tent, fly, footprint, and air mattress
  • Clean the camp stove (now that I've taken the leap and learned how to do it during this trip)

Everything has been returned to its proper place. It's like nothing ever happened.

Steve Miller/GrampiesAn admirable list of chores done! Despite all efforts, we find a new phase now sets in: The pared down and efficient organization of all your stuff begins to decay. Things spread out, or get repurposed. With me the electronics are worst. Cables and chargers and phones and power banks spread all over the place. But then there will be more fun trying to "get the band back together" in advance of the next trip!
