Wildcamp at Laguna el Plato: A few hundred meters from the summit

The day started with a short climb followed by a long flat section. Then it was into climbing again with a flat section providing relief every now and then. The day started getting hotter and hotter and by the time we pulled into the well known wild camping spot at Laguna el Plato we felt we needed a long break for lunch.

The climb consisted of steeper sections separated by plateaus.

The site also had a cherry on the top when it comes to wild camping sites - a nice place to have a wash.

The laguna was a great place for a swim to wash the sweat and salt off.

We had the lake to ourselves and had good views of Red-gartered Coots on the water along with Pied-billed Grebes and Neo-tropical Cormorants.

As the day went on three other vehicles pulled into the area to camp for the night. By the evening rain started to threaten and by the time we were in bed the rain started pelting down.

Today's ride: 19 km (12 miles)
Total: 2,084 km (1,294 miles)
