Today was my last with Tina. Too bad for me. It really is nice to have such a nice companion.
I set out thinking I would stop in Old Forge about 50 miles on. Getting there was often a delight. Loads of lakes. I passed by the Chain of Lakes, which I think has 8 connected lakes. I did cross over Blue Mountain, which was a bit of a challenge but it certainly isn't the high peaks region.
Well I arrived about 12:30 in Old Forge and got to thinking. This while eating an enormous lunch, soup, salad and a couple mozzarella sticks. I was bloated! It turned out the drizzle was supposed to stop ( it didn't) and my next alternative was 26 miles on and flat then down hill (it was). So glad I did it. Crossed over the famous kayak stream , the Moose River and rode along side it for 10 or so wonderful miles. Even with a light wind, and rain in face, this part of the ride was delightful.
The place in staying at is mostly rv seasonal. But what a great deal. He provides a kitchen and showers. Also available is a washer dryer. (like a cyclist would ever need that). And a place just to hang. All for$8.00!!! This is so comfortable!
The next couple of days are supposed to have a bit more rain in them but mostly in the morning. Riding in a drizzle is ok, a rain not so much. Tomorrow, I'll probably aim for Pulaski, or Port Ontario ( my first Great Lake encounter).
Today's ride: 74 miles (119 km)
Total: 180 miles (290 km)
