RhonJon Go Adventuring

D-1 Ft Stevens State Park

Last night the Columbia Gorge winds picked up and the temps dropped to make sleeping tolerable. We know we are on another bike adventure because the train tracks are near by and active. Not as active as Edgemont, SD or as loud as the hiker/biker campsite in Whitefish, MT.

We drove to Astoria and toured through town and found a great lunch spot; Fort George Public House and Brewery. We had a fine rock fish lathered in Panko. Very light and crisp. The R&D German Pilsner was authentic and was perfectly poured as if in Europe.

After spending enough time in town we found are way to Ft Stevens State Park where we will officially start our bike tour in the mourning. The bikes were unloaded and we took a short rundown spin to the ocean beach and an ominous shipwreck.

The temperature is a pleasant 63 which is much more welcome than yesterday’s scorcher.

Today's ride: 4 miles (6 km)
Total: 4 miles (6 km)

George (Buddy) HallYou wrote "or as loud as the hiker/biker campsite in Whitefish, MT. " I can second that! Those trains woke me all throughout the night. Looking forward to following along on your adventure. I have ridden the Transam, so your route will rekindle some memories for me. Best of luck!
