In Wine Country
As we were in Paris, we have been most impressed by the cycling infrastructure in Bordeaux. We were here cycling in 2019 and it seemed good then but it looks even better now (as viewed from a bus!).
Yesterday was a tour to the Sautaurns area, this is a very small appellation producing not only the very well know desert wine but also some dry wines from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon. It is however the sweet wine produced with the help of Noble Rot that it is most famous for. The Chateau we were taken to was a small family owned and run vineyard - it was charming and we were given an excellent informative tour and also a tasting.
Back then on the buses and through the Landes forest to our ship and we sailed to Pauillac, a lovely little port on the Garonne estuary which we remember well staying in when we rode from London to Lisbon
