Epilogue - 2025 Ostrava (CZ) - Praha (CZ) - CycleBlaze

Epilogue

What to say in conclusion? Almost everything I packed for this tour was used. I might skip the trousers next time—they were a bit heavy, and although I used them on a few occasions, I could probably do without them. I would also bring a different kind of flip-flops; the ones I currently have aren’t the most packable.

Regarding the GoPro, I’m considering ditching the standard (blue) batteries and using only the Enduro (white) ones—the broken one has already been replaced.

The tour was very pleasant, and I enjoyed it a lot. The only downside was the weather at the beginning, as I prefer warmer conditions. I’m not sure I would tour in April again unless the temperature for the entire tour was at least 18 °C. Another downside was the need to pack for both cold and warm weather—in my case, bibs, a merino long-sleeve jersey, etc.

Since I wrote this journal two weeks after the tour, it’s likely I forgot something. For instance, in some places I paid in cash and didn’t keep the receipt, so some expenses are just guesses. On the next tour, I should take notes about events, spending, and so on, and even write some basic entries each day. I started the “Day 1” entry during the trip, but because I hadn’t processed the video (with all the gauges, etc.), I didn’t continue, as I wasn’t sure about certain events or when they happened. Maybe I’ll also take some photos next time.

As for the route planning, I think it was done well and overall it was a good tour. The one thing I’d change is to use the cycleway I missed near Nymburk on the last day or to avoid some rough roads.

I’m still planning to do the Prešov (SK) – Prague (CZ) tour sometime in the future, but I’ll choose a different route through Czechia then.

Bill ShaneyfeltPackable sandals... Check out Xero shoes

https://xeroshoes.com/shop/product-category/sandals/

I've had a pair for several years. Only drawback is tiny pebbles that get stuck between foot and sandal while hiking require stopping to remove them. Otherwise they are ultralight and very tough.
