Our bikes have arrived, and so has spring. Perfect. We pack our panniers light and set out for a five day test ride in Franconia (Franken), a two-hour train ride to the north of Munich. It's still a little cool for Camping & Cooking so tent and stove stay home.

To sum it up, the week before Easter we cycled from Nuremberg to Rothenburg and then followed the Altmühl River valley to Kelheim, covering about 320 km (200 miles). The bikes are fabulous and after a few hours we forgot that we were riding on what look like kids' bikes with little tiny wheels.
