Land of 10,000 Lakes

In addition to being known as the Land of 10,000 Lakes, Bemidij, MN honors Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox. No trip to Bemidji would be complete without visiting Paul Bunyan Park on the shore of Lake Bemidji.

The Heartland State Trail was the ride du jour.  Beginning in Cass, winding through the Chippewa National Forest and Paul Bunyan State Forest before ending in Park Rapids.  Along the way the trail passed more lakes than you can count.  One picture will need to be representative or I would still be on the trail.

As you can see from some of the pictures below, it was a blue bird day.  Only wish the forecast for the next two days were similar.  Crossing my fingers to get in some miles tomorrow in spite of the rain.

Paul and Babe overlooking Bemidji Lake since 1937.
