I can probably work some database magic and connect the new images to the old comments. Email me a list of the affected entries and I'll be happy to take a look!
Thanks, Jeff. I emailed the list and there are only 3 items on it.
The question remains, however, of how to preserve the comments on the rest of the photos I want to replace. I don't want to make it difficult! But I also want my photos to look their best.
Unfortunately it's not possible to replace photos and retain comments right now. Partly it has to do with how the editing interface was built, so adding this feature isn't trivial. Also, such a feature would also make it possible to replace an existing photo with an entirely different photo, which would make the existing comments meaningless and possibly confusing to future readers.
In any case, given the many other improvements and fixes in the pipeline, I'm sorry to report that this feature is a low priority at the moment.
Ah well. I'll email you a list of the rest now that I've finished going through the journal.
When I created French Fling last year, I uploaded jpg photo files as created automatically by Apple Photos or my camera. I did, however, save raw files for all the photos taken with my camera.
I finally learned enough about post-processing to go through and fix up those photos. The information is there in the raw files; it just takes some tweaking to bring it out. (I've only photoshopped one, to remove some distracting powerlines.)
The past few days I've been going through and replacing photos in my journal and I've almost finished the first three weeks. This morning, though, I realized that all the comments attached to the old versions of the photos are now gone! Is there any way to restore them or replace the photos without this happening?
