Yes indeed. There's nothing to compare with the simple joy of being clean once more, after a day, week, or whatever time period, is there? I'd expect that going a week would intensify the pleasure considerably, and heighten the anticipation of getting to that point as it draws near.
“So, what's the most memorable shower you've had after a day's ride?”
Keith I’m struggling to remember any particular shower I’ve ever had on a cycle tour. Especially one after a just day’s ride.
I do remember the joy of showering and laundering after a week, or even more, of not having access to facilities on my first long tour in 1979 when I was on a very frugal budget. So frugal I’d save money by camping rough for a considerable intervals before paying for a nights accommodation in a hostel to get tidied up.
I did this repeatedly over the summer of 1979 when crossing Europe.
Very rarely, since that early tour, have I not had easy access on cycle tours to accommodation with decent showers and laundry. And thankfully I’ve been willing and able to spend more money to be comfortable and cleaner on subsequent tours than the first one.
