Managed to ride down to Ladysmith today and of course, stopped off at our favourite bakery! I had a blueberry almond cinnamon bun and thought of you!

Your journal entries are so interesting! History, trail conditions, inner thoughts, interviews with those you meet, hotels, etc. Carry on the good work :-)

The wine route still stands as one of the highlights of our trip so far.

Our weather at the start was so wonderful that we are really noticing the change, especially since we stupidly mailed home our extra hoodies and leggings. Oh well, it will probably improve as the season advances and if not there are always shops where we can get more warm clothes.

Same concept as the paella we did not try in the Camargue. There is something a bit offputting about food that seems to be trying to come at you from the bowl.

Yeah, we did actually try that but the file was too weak and made very little impression on the threads of the bolt so we left it for now and will maybe try to find a bike shop somewhere down the road.

Hi Steve and Dodie,
Your tip for taking the Canal de Bruche and the Wine Route has been great. We are loving it here. Riding along the canal was a real highlight of our day. The signage was excellent . Loving your journal.
All the best,
Barry and Mary Ellen

It sure looks like you two have been unlucky with weather lately. I was surprised when I planned the map out from Crete and saw how wet the rest of Southern Europe is. Too bad, but that’s the advantage of longer tours - it averages out eventually.

Great that you’re going to hook up with Leo!

Hah! I remember that post. Reminded me of a scene in a terry Pratchett book - although I can’t remember which one - that described odd bits and tentacles rising up from some “stew”.

Maybe you could grind a flat on each side of the stud then apply the vive grips?
