How disappointing! Just wanted to let you know I've really enjoyed following your ride. I hope it's not too long before you can finish it all the way to Darwin.

3 years agoAlways ride in sandels Sandy. Mackerel fillets (John West) are delicious esp with salad and in a sandwich.
Unfortunately trip's over - cracked rim - 1,600km on a top range touring bike!! Not happy.
Serious are you riding in flip flops? Or have you just changed into them ? Loving your journal and all the useful information about camp grounds and rest areas
Iām not the one eating them but Iām becoming adverse to ever eating mackerel and sardines again, needs must for you

3 years agoThanks Ron, yes, bike good rim not. Was worried about rims when I bought it but shit $3,000- for a bike and rim goes after 1,600?

3 years agoSomething I picked up in a cycle internet site regarding finding tiny puncture things like wires: Carry a wad of cotton to rub around the inside of the tire. Fibers will catch and the offender will be found without bleeding. (I hate it when that happens.)
