We took a bus through this section (torrential rain), look what we missed!
3 years agoAbsolutely - perfect cycling destination for many reasons - esp so at the start of a tour because it's flat and easy and a good place to build fitness.

A perfect reason to return and do this bit of what is IMHO the most perfect cycling country I have toured. You still did plenty of stunning riding there on your tour and I will be forever thankful for unknowingly (to you) leading me to the Hung Vuong Hotel in Ben Tre and the Karst Mountains up in the North. Torrential rain can certainly be a problem. In the days after here I had some rain but not torrential - it was the edges of a massive storm than hit between Phong Nha and Hanoi and caused massive flooding up there. That was the remnants of a huge Typhoon that had just smashed the Phillippines - fortunately I just got some rain which was a little bit welcome because it cooled the place down.
