Yes, I noticed the loose timing chain in one of your bike pictures.
The front chain ring should be attached to an eccentric bottom bracket which can be rotated to retension the chain. Should be something on utube which explains it.

Enjoy all that cake. One of the benefits of cycling is eating whatever you want. Lyle and I one day while cycling the Rhine river ate cake all day as the bakeries always had such yummy looking and tasting treats. We just didn’t want to miss anything.🍰🎂🧁😋
