I don’t think they’re godwits. Too much white, the flight pattern looks off, and the bills are too heavy. I think they’re gannets. I was surprised to see them that far south but I checked the range map and it fits.

That, or one of the kites.

Yep. Wax candles are dirty and leave a residue on the interior. Still the same thoughts and prayers, although I'm certain theirs are more sincere than those in my own country.

Loved the birds, as always. Also loved Seville, alas without bicycle

Don't be too down on the bush, it probably saved me from a broken bone by breaking my fall. It was actually a fairly soft landing.

Didn't even notice it until you mentioned the water. But yeah, it really is an interesting look. You can see that the burd is paddling like crazy.

It really sat there for ages. Love Hoopoes, they are such pretty birds.

Dodie got off with a bruised upper arm and a slightly pulled back. We (briefly) considered Matalasclanas and the beach ride, but the wind, rain and flooding made it seem like a not so good idea. Too bad.

We both slept for hours, and napped the next afternoon. Had fun in El Rocio anyway so in the end it was OK.

Not fun, or at least Type 2ish fun. Still, it could have been much worse.

Fortunately the bike and the bush got the worst of it. Steve fixed the broken bike mirror, the bush will regrow, and Dodie got off with a sore left upper arm and a slightly pulled back. All's well that ends well.

What a terrible day! I was glad to see that you made it to your hotel. Not the best weather for El Rocio!

The water is the show stopper here, I think..
