Wow! That is beautiful, and I've never seen it. Thanks for identifying it, Scott! -Mark
4 weeks agoThis globular thing is a piece of glass from a local art studio we go to each September when “Open Studios” is held. We have several pieces in our yard, all picked carefully to make sure they will “fit”.
The artists are Scott and Cristy whose business is named “Viscosity Art Glass”… check it out! …viscositystudio.com
What is that globular thing in the center of your red fireworks (kangaroo paws?)?
1 month agoWhat a distinctive plant! I've never seen one of these but it's hard to misidentify: fairy fan-flower (Scaevola aemula), from Australia.
1 month agoHi Karen, Geelong is about sixty miles from where we are in Melbourne.
I just got home from walking our rescue Greyhound. It is Winter here and it is about 10 Degrees centigrade atm but a very cold north wind is blowing. Glad to be inside again.
Thank you, Mike, for your wise perspective! It’s sad so many people are of a “ above the law” mentality nowadays. ( Guess the orange guy in the WH has something to do with that)..
I thought about putting the important things of his article in the journal post, but thought better of it because it’s really not something most CB readers are interested in! Besides, it’s really “same old, same old” stuff we all are aware of but take with a grain of salt.
Victoria, Australia 🇦🇺? My younger daughter studied in Geelong her junior year! She loved the people but it was 🥵 for her weather wise.. G’day!
Thanks again!
Hi Karen
In a recent interview the Assistant Police Commissioner for Traffic in the Australian State of Victoria blamed Entitled and Arrogant drivers for the high number of traffic deaths.
So until parents and educators change their approach to child rearing nothing is going to change.
Ride carefully and a good idea to post this as a journal, few people here bother with the forums.
Many thanks! how fascinating are these times from an era when why we did what we did as a country actually meant something . I will forward this to my cousins in Dayton. 😉
1 month agoWhat a wonderful story. I had an uncle who might have been embarked on the Land as a member of the 2nd Marine Division for the invasion of Tinian.
Re your uncle, I found the information and a little more about him in this document, if you've not seen it. https://www.scribd.com/document/33385997/WWII-811th-Tank-Destroyer-Battalion
Yes, I was aware of this honor. Thank you for your support of this! I am going to post another photo of my Mother, Mary who also did “ her part” by selling war bonds in the shipyards in Oakland, California. She was the one who sold the most bonds, thus her honor to christen the battleship, “ S. S. John Land , in 1943. , and a true “ Queen Mary”.
1 month agoThe American Battle Monuments Commission and its host country employees do an amazing job of maintaining these sites and honoring the service of those interred. Do you know your uncle was awarded the Silver Star?
1 month agoHopefully the humidity isn’t happening..yet.. 😬
2 months agoSaw the first of the season last week.
2 months agoMoms know best! True teachers with lots of ❤️!
Now you can catch fireflies since you live in Ohio. That’s something I have never seen, but my Mom, hailing from Dayton told me about this..
Is this the Caucasian of Tai Chi? LOL -Mark
