They must have been doing renovations then - I just had a look at the recent reviews and most are still raving about the place. I loved it. Another American cyclist I stay in touch with wont stay there because he reckons Julian's a dick. I probably agree with that but most importantly, he runs an excellent guesthouse so I'll be back there one day.

Top notch.

We gave up on those paths. Notice the "glamping" up ahead? That is new and we saw a lot of that along this stretch, with very few customers.

These are no longer maintained and available, sadly.

We adore this section too. New for late 2019 was that the river is now much greener/clearer than this, due to new dams upstream. Pretty to look at but probably detrimental to species adapted to the Mekong's original turbidity.

The Lao like their music loud. Very loud. Fun to hear drifting across the river, staying next door not so much.

We used to stay at Mut Mee back when it had a wild overlook onto the Mekong, completely silent and serene. Last year we saw they are overhauling this garden seating area and it just looked like dusty chaos. Things change. Julian (the owner) once gave us a ride to the bridge, he was very good to us.

Yeh I find those big bridges a bit scary too.

Yeh I thought you did. I checked out the photos on your journal the other day and could see the rounded windows. Might have to try for that room next time I'm there.
Will be forever grateful to you two for leading me to that Hotel - it's perfect overlooking the river. Love the town too. One of my all time favourites for sure.

I was terrified on this bridge.

We stayed in the curved room on the upper right, great place!

We are doing fine. We have a new president and vaccines are getting in arms. The twin granddaughters are great, and spring will be here before long. Hope all is well with you too. Thanks for keeping us entertained with your journals!

Hi Andrea - yes, the Mekong Delta is superb isn't it. Hope you guys are staying well and safe over there - troubling times on many fronts. Can't wait for this Virus to be over.
