Thanks Michael. Isn't it an excellent ride? And for us a bonus being able to take the dog. I reread my last entry too and thought that would be a good segment to do if we only had a day or two, Nelson being only a couple of hours away from us.

Just been reading through your trip on the Great taste Trail, Robyn. Really enjoyed it. We cycled it early this year (2024) and had a wonderful time, but it’s amazing the things you miss when you read someone else’s version. We were sorry to miss Spooner’s Tunnel, as it was closed because of fire danger. I expect some people see route barré as a bit of a challenge, but resulting climb did us good.
Happy Travels, Michael

Great journal Robyn! And good on you for pulling off all the complicated logistics and having such a great adventure with Scout. I'm sure there will be more to come!

Toad Hall, above, is in Motueka, yes. Huge grounds, lovely outfoors and v dog-friendly. This fence signage caught my eye on outskirts of Mapua.

I think I recognise this cafe. Motueka?

Now we are thinking what other multi-day trails we can do with the dog. We'll be back!

It's a great café, and very dog-friendly, which suited us...And yes, Scout lives a good life, lucky indeed!

Isn’t Toad Hall wonderful. Scout is a very lucky dog I think!

Hi Steve. I love pimping my bikes ! I discovered you can buy a range of different coloured, grippy, hard plastic mtb pedals online at a fraction of the price of regular metal ones.
