There have been several days with ascents over 5,000 feet. Legs are working hard
2 years agoI'm getting tired just *looking* at that profile. Glad you didn't run into the dogs on the climbs.
2 years agoThat's my thinking as well. They nest in small colonies, in little nooks well off the ground.
2 years agoThose are some nasty looking hills!
2 years agoWas thinking of you today as I rode from Shepherdstown toward Hancock on the C&O canal to link up with a long-time friend. He started in Cumberland; we met in Hancock then rode the next day to just short of Harper's Ferry. I had to get home Sunday morning so we split up after camping at Huckleberry Hill hiker biker campsite.
2 years agoPretty rugged terrain unless you're following the rivers.
2 years ago"... 3.5 mile 1,432 feet ascent ..."
That's an average grade of about 7.7 percent. Well done!
Glad you got past the dogs. I’ve seen some nasty bite wounds on riders’ legs. They have pepper spray, stun guns, and ultrasonic deterrents for self-defense against dogs. Never know what other wily critters may come after Hondo the RoadRider.
Stay safe.
I wonder if those dogs were tobacco chewing dogs. A little wound up
2 years agoCorrect me if I am wrong, but I think those are for Purple Martins (as opposed to Purple Martians… )
2 years agoThe elevation changes look pretty severe this stretch. Legs feeling good? Brake pads or discs?
Due west to Carbondale.
You’re doing great!!
Love seeing the real countryside, and not just the interstate views or Chamber of Commerce brochure pics.
Wow. How much are bridges down at the Home Depot?
2 years agoThe mannequin looks like she might start talking to ya iffin you get too close. A touch creepy.
2 years agoToday was a record, 6 dollar stores in one day. I am thinking I will be in the 120 range
