My official excuse for bringing the computer is for making the daily routes. It’s handy for little things like seeing photo details also.

You are a good communicator in English. I recall working on French yacht in Cannes back in the day and having young French guests aboard with whom I couldn't communicate, it was frustrating. Still there's no time like the present to learn a few key words.
The humidity & the heat = L'humidité et la chaleur . Everyone talks about the weather!
I'm amazed how often I see birds and animals that show up in my pictures when I was trying to feature something else. Sometimes they're pretty big animals too--like deer. Anyway, that's a great sunset photo, and you're right, the birds were a bonus.

1 month agoSince this post we have started to see shower curtains. Thankfully. the shower is always an adventure. Sometimes I have to call Jacinto in to help me get it turned on. He says that's like the blind leading the blind. I like showers better than baths, because the bathtubs here seem very slippery in the bottom and I don't want to fall. I think I'm not old, and then I decide I'm getting old (notice the important word getting), because now I like it when they have grab bars in the bathroom!
1 month agoI'm easily entertained by the mundane. We have since had that type of dispenser again. I didn't like it any better the second time.

1 month agoShowers can definitely be a problem in Europe! If the shower head is detachable, I take it out and hold it away from the opening. Off course, you then have to get wet so you can soap up, turn it off and then back on to rinse off. What a pain!
1 month agoI felt pretty silly, going round and round and not finding it. My phone told me several times, "You have arrived!", but I had not. In the end, I was barely around the corner, but didn't know it. This was an extra confusing location, but one of my favorite stays. They had a coat of armor for a photo - that's a big plus. They also had the best breakfast of the trip so far. I think we were the only people in the whole place. Ours was the only table set for breakfast, and it was a lavish spread.

John,
1 month agoThanks for finding me here. I had suggested to Jacinto we should starting learning some French over the winter. He was sure Spanish and English would get us by. It has, but life would have been easier if we had taken your suggestion earlier. Maybe he will be more receptive this winter!
