Glad you are feeling a little better and don’t seem to report having a fever.

Glad you are heeding your inner voice to take care of yourself. Stay warm and hydrated.

You are smart to take care of yourself. Look at the big picture. You have a lot of riding left. Grandma always said chicken soup and orange juice. Not necessarily together!

Karen Poret commented on Day 19: Simmesport to Chicot State Park

Hello! Are you going to be cycling near Mansura? If so, say Hello to any and all Poret’s you may meet! Surely someone knows someone with this last name. Small world stuff. Hope you feel better!

Nancy Graham commented on Day 17: Jackson to Simmesport

I am enjoying your trip with you and like all the photos and all your stories. For some reason I did not have this day 17 or Day 15 photos come up. I don’t think it is on my end because I get the message “image not found”. Stay safe and enjoy the journey.

I don't know why I didn't think of beef jerky. I eat it when backpacking. It is a good way to get some protein and a change from all the carbs, as you said. I have been eating fig newtons, and agree they are a good food.

Beef jerky is a good snack that's available at the convenience store. It's nice to have something salty to combat all of the sweetness. Fig newtons are another touring only snack. 50 calories each. Got to love that on long days.

I'm enjoying reading along with you.

Nancy Graham commented on Day 8: Sabbath Day 1

I have been enjoying your first week of the trip and do appreciate all the details you give. Nice to know the food stuff you pick up along the way, food that is local to the area, and I agree with Kelly about the gear commentary. Good information there. I hope for you to be out of the rain for a while now. ;’-).
