Funny how it was the last 14 km that did me in with the wind. The rest I felt really strong.

Well done. Especially getting to Duffers without HAB. I have done Bannackburn to Mossburn in a day. Very grey and cold through Nevis and a freezing descent into Garston. I swore after all the gates on the Round the Mountain trail I was going to ride the road next time. The trail is an old rail line. Enjoy the ride to Te Anau, especially the last section in bush. The best thing to do Te Anau to Milford is to start really early so you get road before the buses from Queenstown start coming through. The ride down from Homer tunnel is one of the best 20 km ever. There are shuttles (CatchaBus) that can get you back to the Anau if you don't want to ride it again.

Hi Andrew. I am enjoying following your cycling around NZ. Hope the fine weather continues to be with you! I know there are some tough hills ahead - from following Bruce’s S2S - just as well you are so fit!

Great pix of the Dunstan. It's a hugely popular trail.

Thanks! That saddle is a beast. And actually that whole track is difficult. So bumpy I felt like I was completely shaken inside :)

Well done on 1. Hiking up Omarama 2. Getting down the other side 3. Completing all the river crossings 4. Still being able to ride through to Omakau.
Fun trails through to Bannockburn. Hope the good weather remains and the trip over Nevis is ok. The next challenge will be Duffers.

I agree with Rich! I love the experience of being *in* the landscape.

National flower of Scotland, but an invasive in New Zealand... Bull thistle. Pretty, but nasty thorns!
