Day 4 - ride to Chaiten

Woke up to lots of dew, since it was a chilly night !  No roosters at 4am to wake us up.

We are on our way to Chaiten this morning always a bit of a late start since waiting for the sun to burn off the dew on the tents. Tip #10 I guess I should start numbering them, put an extra shirt or something in your tent just in case it cools off !

We got on the road at 10 sun was out and roads not quite hard packed however not that loose gravel.

I didn’t download the Komoot map so no idea on elevation. No Wifi in the park.

Looks like a bomb went off when repacking the bikes

Here is to hoping we have seen the last of these roads.

Again the scenery is stunning as we rode. Without  services having a water purifier was key,  showering  in ice cold water in the park I have no issues, drinking it is a different story. It is a new life experience camping, a simple peanut butter bun with an orange is a great lunch. Like a snail you carry your whole life on your back.

With views like these even the nasty bugs are okay to take … only for a short bit

Yeaaaa paved roads again a breath of fresh air. Still many up and down hills, however way better than gravel. No using the brakes as you go downhill on pavement. The gravel your teeth want to fall out and always worry about being pulled down

Pictures don’t do the scenery justice. Like the Grand Canyon or any mountain ranges need to see it in person

Tip #11 Enjoy the beauty and simplicity of life on a trip like this.

Tip #12 bikes break down, we rode past a few where we later saw them in a back of a pickup truck. Get your bike checked before you leave and every morning tighten bolts that could be shaken loose. Wish I could that with my teeth that are rattling around after going down some gravel hills.
