The wife and I are latecomers to cycle touring only starting to ride at age 60 & 66 in 2019 and doing my first tour 2 years later.  I eased into it with a 3-day credit card tour of the San Juan Islands but that was on a heavy, 7-speed cruiser style ebike that weighed 60 pounds before adding panniers and a trunk bag.  After adding the Michelson and Prairie Spirit/Flint Hills trails, last year we rode across Ohio 3 times on the OTET and across Missouri on the Rock Island  and Katy Trails.  We are going to try to make up some lost time by riding from Washington DC to Washington state this summer.  We've changed our bikes to Specialized Turbo Vado SL.
