About

There’s not that much to know about us, really. We’re an older Canadian couple, now retired, who happen to enjoy tandem cycling together. 

We prefer hub-and-spoke style trips to point-to-point trips - we’ve tried both, but found that on our point-to-point trips we missed the opportunity to get to know one or two places well. If you’re looking for long distance adventures, these won’t be your favourite journals - our trips are generally shorter, a few weeks at most.

How did we get started on the tandem, you might ask? I mean, as we’ve observed, other couples either love the idea or think that it’s a crazy idea, without much middle ground between those two possibilities. For us, it felt pretty natural, albeit with a 1-to-2 year learning curve. After cycling a lot through my school years right to the end of university, I sort of fell off the wagon (or the bike in this case) until later in my career when a close friend also reignited his own love of cycling at the same time. It was only a matter of time before Joanne and I took the leap of faith, building on several “try-it-out” ventures on rental tandems, and started riding our first Cannondale T1 tandem in 2016. 

Enough for now about us - we have no doubt that we’ll think of more to say here while we begin to contribute to our journals.
