About

We are Joel (university instructor), Sarah (elementary teacher), Amelia, Xavier, Ellie and Odessa. 

Mom and dad really found bike touring in 2001 when we prepared for and completed a 7500km cross-Canada, post-university graduation trip. Truly, the "trip of a lifetime", it instilled a deep appreciate for the virtues of the bike. 

Other short tours have been completed in the time before and since:

1998: KRV, Coquihalla -> Penticton return. (Joel) 5 days.

2001: Vancouver -> St. John's NFLD. (Joel & Sarah) 3 months. 7500km

2002: BC Sunshine Coast. (Joel & Sarah) 3 days

2011: Moselle River, Trier -> Koblenz. (Joel, Sarah, Amelia 2 Xavier 8 mos. + Auntie Claire) 6 days

2021: Annie Lake Road, Yukon. (Joel & Xavier). 2 days

2021: Victoria -> Cowichan Valley. (Joel & Xavier). 5 days. 

We were Warmshowers hosts before the kids arrived and met many interesting and inspiring folks when they passed through Whitehorse. We're back on the Warmshowers train and hope, once Covid is in the rearview, that we can meet many more. 

We're hopeful that Cycleblaze can be an opportunity for us and our kids to share some of our bike travels and reflect on our experiences.
