Johnson Creek
Well, here’s a really fast one to push out a ride together covered almost entirely by Rachael’s GoPro. We just rode, with me stopping only twice for a photo. It was an open-ended out and back the Springwater Corridor, mapped to the end of the path at Boring (which would have made a 50 mile ride, which neither of us expected to complete).
We mostly just rode so that I could stick near Rachael while we tested our safety issues, which were surprisingly no concern at all. We eventually turned back because Rachael’s wrist and ankle were starting to bother her, but otherwise it was a fine ride.
Surprisingly this will turn out to be the last ride we’ll take together before departure, even though we’ll get luckier than expected and see enough weather breaks to support short rides, walks or bird hunts.
A couple of interesting things to note about the ride. First, there’s the state of the cherry grove, whose bloom has almost entirely passed. It still draws a crowd, but not for long. It was so fast this year though! It was only four days ago that we passed by here and the trees were in full bloom.
And then there was the Tesla that we just missed. Today is Musk Day, and there were protests at Tesla dealerships worldwide by Musk-haters hoping to impoverish the poor sot. We just missed the one at the small dealership on the south waterfront, but we were in time for me to raise a fist pump in solidarity.
