Packing on up

We haven't done a house move in six years, and - while we have embarrassingly little stuff when we actually discussing what size of removal van we needed - all the odds and ends really add up.

We're now at the end of several days of frantic packing and cleaning. The saving grace is that the bikes don't need to be packed at all - the easiest thing is just to wheel them onto the removal lorry. I've even left my water bottles attached to mine.

A mass of partially filled boxes. Some of the furniture was still here at this point

The last stage was to, um, dismantle the very old and worn furniture we couldn't be bothered to move. I started with an Allen hex key, then moved on to a screwdriver, and subsequently a small axe.

This was the very satisfying final stage - jigsawing the old table in quarters.

Kathleen JonesVery satisfying. When we moved last year, we had an old desk we wanted hauled away. The hauler just kicked it apart. It was mostly particle board and laminate, but still. I was just glad to see it go.
