Washington Departure

So after packing and taping everything, the two panniers and cargo trunk come in at about 25 lbs, and the bike and accessories at about 40 lbs. Traveling lightweight!

The panniers weigh about 20 lbs, and the cargo trunk another 4 or 5 lbs. I packed the cargo trunk with the bike. It mostly carries all my essential tools and bike gear.

The boxed-up bike! It fit like a glove this trip. I always learn a new trick every time I pack it.

Jerry at baggage check-in. All went smoothly. We hope for the same on arrival!

The three of us arrived early, so we had time to relax and eat before boarding.

And finally on board. I upgraded to Economy Comfort for both legs. Not as good as Air France's Premium Economy, but I will rest well. Plus there was no one next door, at least not on the first leg. And in this class of service, the middle seat is not sold, so lots of room!

Crossing the Potomac River and heading north for Iceland, our first stop with a 90-minute layover.

And Iceland on our approach. About the closest you might get to being on Mars without leaving the planet!
