The Ride to Dresden from the Boy's Perspective

Happy and Jerry had their own experiences Friday as we rode from Ústí nad Labem to Dresden. Here is Jerry's angle as posted on Facebook:

"There I stood, wet and shivering at a gas station on the Czech-German border. The temperature was in the 50s ,and it had been raining since we left Usti nad Labem that morning. We had been climbing mostly and that made me generate enough heat to stay warm, but once I started to descend to the border town I got cold very quickly. I needed some hot chocolate but the gas station didn't sell it and I had no Czech money left anyway. I asked the clerk in my clumsy German how far to Germany and he said about 300 meters. Danny overheard me and he probably saw me shivering. He told me in English that he could take me to Germany in his car. I said that was very kind of him to offer but I needed to go to Dresden, still some 23 miles away by bike. Danny, a cyclist himself, said it was no problem since he lives close to Dresden. I folded the Bike Friday and put it in the back of the hatchback. My hands were so numb that I had to ask Danny to unsnap my helmet strap. Danny delivered me to within a few blocks of my hotel in Dresden. I am very grateful to Danny for the rescue. Vielen Dank Danny!"
