Prague Rest Day 2

Today, we decided to tour Prague Castle . . . and we would get there by tram! That turned out to be a little tricky as it seemed one of the lines was under construction and had been re-routed onto another track, requiring some confusing transfers on our part. Of course, it would have been easier if we understood the language better . . . but we were with other tourists headed for the same destination and, together, figured it all out!

We eventually made it to the palace, well-guarded . . . ceremonially and in practice.

But the pièce de résistance is Katedrála sv Víta (St Vitus Cathedral).

The baroque, silver-encased tomb for St John of Nepomuk, draped in a red canopy held up by angels. Two tons of silver were used in its creation.

And the Golden Gate depicting the Last Judgment.

Next, the castle itself . . . here we see Vladislav Hall, one of the largest public spaces within the castle.

And no visit is complete without a walk down the Golden Lane.

We then stopped in to see the Crown Jewels.

Reliquary . . . I don't know more than that!

And more precious accouterments. I should have paid more attention to the display case signage.
